NYIABC Programming Policy

The Board of Governors of NY/IABC will strive to offer its members programming on a regular basis. In order to do so in a fair and balanced way, NY/IABC programming will:

  1. Offer members the opportunity to learn new skills/refine existing skills in relevant practice areas; offer members opportunities to network with other members.

  2. Programs offered to our members will be instructional/educational. Programs will not endorse a particular person/product/service.

  3. Networking events will be run by the Chapter Administration and provide members the opportunity to interact with other members and/or participate in a social activity.

  4. Programs will be run by individuals or companies with a proven track record in the field (see Item 6) and will include bodies of work not limited to the accomplishments of the individual presenter(s).

  5. Individual IABC members and IABC corporate members will be given priority for presenting programming when NY/IABC organizes a program.

  6. Any one interested in running a program should send a two-page agenda of the suggested program to iabc@nyc.rr.com. Additional information should include biographical information on the proposed speaker(s) as well as material on the company and the individual's/company's expertise in this field. Materials will be reviewed by the NY/IABC Board and the Board will make the final decision on all programming.

  7. Suppliers/Vendors to the industry may sponsor a program or a part of a program. In exchange for this, NY/IABC will offer the vendor various opportunities to be highlighted as a sponsor and to present their offerings to our membership. Interested parties should contact the Sponsorship Committee — marie@cantorconcern.com

  8. NY/IABC will not sell our members emails or addresses. Should the NY/IABC endorse a non-IABC seminar, the chapter will handle all member publicity. The Board will set a fee for this service based on the cost to the chapter.

  9. Non-IABC programs will only be endorsed when the Board believes our members will be well-served by this program, our members will receive a benefit (such as reduced entry fee), it does not conflict with offerings of the NY/IABC chapter or IABC International and notice of at least 180 days is given. The NY/IABC Board will make the final decision on all programming.

  10. NY/IABC will publicize the events of other associations and not-for-profit groups on a reciprocal basis. These programs must not conflict with NY/IABC or IABC International programming and must have educational relevance to our members. NY/IABC will handle all member notifications and will not supply our member information to any organization. The NY/IABC Board will decide if the program will be offered to our members and which NY/IABC program will be publicized through the 'other' organization.
